Week two of the NFL betting lines season has come to an end, and already fans across the league are preparing to hit the panic button on their team. For many football handicappers, the performances of their teams through the first couple weeks of the season are a poor indication of how the team will fair. However, at the same time, some teams appear to be ready to tank the rest of the fishing games this season, after slow starts out of the gate. Here is a look at the worst performances of week two.
Kansas City Chiefs – After making a slew of offseason changes, that should have taken the team to the next level in 2011, to say that the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have this start planned would be an understatement. The Chiefs similar to the 2009 Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of one of their best seasons. After winning the sports betting AFC West division crown, the Chiefs added depth at every position, in hopes of becoming a legitimate contender. Yet, similar to the 2010 Cincinnati Bengals, the Chiefs have gotten off to a slow start. The Chiefs defense lost anchor Eric Berry to season ending knee surgery after week one, and Matt Cassel appear to have regressed. Meaning to say, with the loss of running back Jamal Charles, Chiefs fans are ready to throw in the white towel.
Indianapolis Colts – The Indianapolis Colts were expected to struggle this season, as star quarterback Peyton Manning would be sidelined for the first 10 weeks, with a neck injury. Kerry Collins was brought in to replace Manning, in an attempt to regain 2008 form, when Collins guided the Tennessee Titans to an 11 and five record. Instead, the Colts offense appears to be more lost then fans could have expected. Collins has played like a 38 year old quarterback that should retire, as opposed to rekindling any magic he may have thought he still had. If the Colts look to stay competitive, they may need to bring in former Jacksonville Jaguar David Garrard.
