Heisman Prediction

The 2011 – 12 college football betting regular season is almost over, and now fans and media alike are trying to determine who the Heisman winner of this year is. Similar to the NFL, the Heisman Trophy as the league MVP is normally given out to a quarterback, as they are the most important member of the offense. From time to time, such as during the 2009 – 10 season, bookie software agents are able to see a running back win the award as the most valuable player on their team. With only three weeks left in the season, here is a look at some of the candidates.

Robert Griffin III Baylor Bears – The man known by his fans as RG3 set the NCAA world on fire last weekend, when he helped guide the Bears to an upset victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. The victory finished off a 48-hour span in which three highly seeded schools lost their bid at a National title. But that victory is only a small reason why RG3 should be the Heisman winner for this season.

Thus far in the year, Robert Griffin has put together an outstanding season, throwing for 3,572 yards with 33 passing touchdowns and five interceptions, to go along with 550 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. If he were higher up in the AP rankings, he would be a lock for the award.

Trent Richardson Alabama Crimson Tide – The lone running back in the Heisman race has put together an incredible season. Richardson is looking to become the second Alabama running back in the past three seasons to win the Heisman, as former teammate Mark Ingram accomplished the feat in 2009 – 10. Richardson has 1380 rush yards with 22 touchdowns, and should receive the bulk of carries against Auburn this weekend.
